From reused materials to flame-grilled gyros
The Fat Greek at Tapperitorvet 1 in Carlsberg Byen opened in December 2022. Everything was built from reused materials by the founders Søren Peter Gerner Kristensen and Dimitrios Kokkalidis.
Søren says: “When you stand at the counter on Tapperitorvet, you stand in a room built by hand. We wanted a place that feels warm all year, without costing the earth.” He drew the whole interior in 3D before a single board was cut. Then the tables, benches and signs were built.
Fun fact: Even the lamps are reused, sponsored and made by Fischer Lighting, a Danish company that rescues old lamps from demolition.
Black wood, green tiles and an open kitchen
Walls, tables, chairs and benches are burnt black wood, the tiles are moss green, and the kitchen is open so you can see the food being made. Authenticity and quality sit in everything we do.

Why reuse?
Because it has character, and because it matches how we cook: proper ingredients, no waste, no shortcuts.
Come and see it at Tapperitorvet 1, above Carlsberg Station. About 6–8 seats inside and 8–10 outside.
