The idea behind The Fat Greek started in 2018, in Copenhagen. Being hungry for Gyros and longing for a home-cooked meal from Greece, was how it all began. At that time there were no places in Copenhagen you could go for authentic flame grilled gyros, and therefore we wanted to start bringing the taste and the feeling of Greek summer to Denmark.

When Greeks say: Πάμε στον χοντρό (“Let’s go to The Fat Greek”)

It means: “Let’s go to the place where the chef is well fed”, and therefore, the food is good.

To make sure we get the authentic taste and quality, we flame grill. Just like our Greek ancestors did “in the good old days” over open fire. The family recipes are passed down and perfected through generations. We marinate our meat to have it as tender and juicy as possible, and all our dips and spreads are homemade, and we import a lot of our products from Greece.
